Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving. We are spending the weekend at my parent's house in St. Louis. So far it has been a nice relaxing day. Fire in the fireplace. Turkey is on the grill. Watching the Macy's parade and looking at black Friday ads. I have not even showered yet. Ahh, this is the way to enjoy a holiday. Hope everyone is having a good holiday.

And the doll who pees and poops. Seriously? I have to say I am not crazy about any of her choices this year. I am sure it is only going to get worse next year. She is also obsessed with the pink tickets on Barbies. She wants to win soooo bad. I don't even think she gets what she would win. She just sees it as a party that you have to win your way into. This hits on two things of hers. She has to win. And she has to go to the party. She seems to miss the point of the commercial where they say "many will enter, only a few will win." Sigh. I am wanting her to go back to the channels without commercials a lot lately. I knew it would not last long enough.

Sunday Snapshot

Ok, so it has been like a long tim since I posted. But before it becomes an actual year, I thought I would join in the fun that Stephanie over at Ni Hao Y'all has started. I actually posted last week that I would join this week, to make me post about my one and only fabulous child. After all time is going really fast. Way too fast really. And I have written so little of it down. Carrington is 5. She started kindergarten this year as one of the youngest in her classes. A little part of me thought about keeping her back just because of that. But she was so ready to go to big school. And who was I to stop her from taking on the world?

She is actually done very well in school. The first couple of weeks were rough. She didn't want to go. She missed preschool. It took about a month for her to be at home. At our first teacher/parent conference her teacher told us that she wished she had a whole classroom full of her. She told us that she has written into her sub plan (she is out for having a baby) to just ask Carrington if she needs to know where something is or how the class does something. Carrington defintely marches to her own drummer. I am hoping she can keep that and peer pressure won't kill it in the next couple of years. She is very strong minded and gives me a challenge most days. For picture day, she insisted on wearing what she wanted. I was able to get a head of the game on that one and get her to pick something I liked too. However then there was her hair. She insisted on doing it herself. We had a fight five minutes before walking out for school. She won. She assured me it would be cute. So behold the first school picture. Complete with red ponytail holder. She was right though. She is so stinking cute in that picture. Carrington is very caring and loves her cousin. She is always wanting to get things for her and is talking about the next time she gets to see her. There are touches of jealousy. After all for the first four years she did not have to share her grandparents, but over all she has done great. She is very competitive and hates to lose. Something we work on. She loves games, movies, tv and playing games on my IPod. She is into gymnastics and is moving up to the next level after Thanksgiving. She is also doing this early, but her instructors think she can handle it. She is occasionally my model, but mostly I have to bribe her for pictures. I am not the only mother that bribes her child right? ;) When she will pose though, I get some great shots!

Carrington has brought so much joy to our lives it is hard to even think what it had been like had she not been meant for our family. Each day is a new adventure

Christmas Posing

Every year so far I have made Carrington do a photoshoot with the tree. Believe it or not, they were easier when she was littler. This year it involved her telling me (when asked to hold her legs a certain way) "I am in the silver outfit, what more do you want?" It is amazing I get any shots I like out of our sessions. But I do like these shots.

Merry Christmas

I have been pretty absent from the blog world lately. Carrington's bandages are all off of the burns. Looks like one will leave a scar, but we are still very happy with her recovery after the scare of the whole thing. We have been busy with Christmas activities, etc also. I did want to post our Christmas card though. I love the way it turned out!

I had them printed at MPix, where they have a DIY card. I received my order very quick and was very happy with the quality and price also.
